Onward and upward.
3… 2… 1… funemployment!
This has been a very grownup month for me. Moving to my new place, getting homeowner’s and disability insurance, buying furniture, having electrical work done and fixtures installed, planning to fly out to yet another friend’s wedding next week, and culminating with my very first layoff!
Of course, I’m not going from one job to zero. In a way, this will be like a little vacation, as I go from having two full-time jobs to just one again, and I’ve still got my slough of part-time occupations: math tutor, computer doctor, and summer school teacher. MixMatchMusic / MobBase is doing exciting things (look for announcements soon on Twitter) and the job market is SO hot right now for my field. Hansel.
I’m also trying, throughout the move process, to jumpstart what’s been a lifelong habit of thingherding and actually get some stuff thrown out. First on the chopping block were some old clothes (to Goodwill) and my massive collection of Macworld, MacAddict, and Stuff magazines from the ’90s and ’00s.
Especially with my birthday coming up, November should be an interesting month of self-discovery, career exploration, organization, partying, and much-needed relaxation.
This is my first personal blog-type post in half a decade, and I hope to stay motivated to keep it up. Stay tuned!
