Employment!

It seems I’m very lucky that my industry isn’t aware there’s a recession - I had 3 job interviews lined up within a few days of being laid off; all very exciting opportunities. All of them provided the things I need: challenging work at the leading edge of its technology, market salary, and exciting product(s) that will get in front of a lot people quickly.

I even conducted a couple phone interviews while in Florida - nothing like trying to be as professional as possible around the corner from an oyster bar with live music and your friends drinking :-)

After the dust settled, I thankfully had a choice of offers (I always prefer to make fully informed decisions), and I accepted one! I start as a Front End UI Engineer at TripIt in a week - hopefully that will give me enough time to finish moving. Although I’m not looking forward to my 5 minute Burlingame commute jumping to potentially almost an hour to the city, I’m really excited to jump into a new codebase, learn and love a new product, and mesh my skills and opinions into a talented new team.
